A 34-member Odisha squad finished overall 10th with a modest haul of 10 medals in the 24th National Inter-Zonal Junior Athletics Championship, which concluded at Shiv Chhatrapathi Sports Complex in Pune today. The medals included one gold, four silver and five bronze.
Ashuman Sahu emerged as the new athletic star of Odisha, winning the lone gold and a silver medal in under-18 boys category. Rajeswari Bhoi was the other multiple medal winner from Odisha, bagging two bronze. Host Maharashtra emerged overall champions with 429.5 points, while Haryana finished runners-up with 347.5 points.

Gold: Ashman Sahu (U-18 boys triple jump, 14.45m)
Silver: Ashman Sahu (U-18 boys long jump, 7.18m); Ramachandra Hansda (U-14 boys 600m run, 1:24.79); Sekunta Kullu (U-16 girls long jump, 5.59 m); Damayanti Murmu (U-18 girls javelin, 36.65m);
Bronze: Madhuchhanda Mishra (U-14 girls triathlon, 1431 points); Sasmita Sethi (U-20 girls 2,000m steeple chase, 10:10.10); Rajeswari Bhoi (U-18 girls 100m hurdles and heptathlon), Bonita Lakra (U-20 girls 100m sprint).
